Archie is survived by his nephew, Virgil Peplinski and his wife, Delphine of Ruth; many nieces; one brother, Ernest and his wife, Lorraine of Novi; one sister, Irene Zalewski of Northville; one sister-in-law, Leona Peplinski of Ruth. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Edmund and Elmer; sisters, Bertha Vincent, Emily Kopinski, Mary Maraj, Selma Danielski, Alma Osentoski and Elsie Peruski.
Mr. Archie “Uncle Archie†Peplinski, 99 of Ruth, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe. He was born on April 10, 1919 in Ruth to the late Joseph and Lucy (Woyciechowski) Peplinski. He married Regina Wloch on July 30, 1966 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2008. Archie was a graduate of Paris #1 Country School. He was a proud veteran, serving for four years in the US Army Air Corp, serving during the China, Berma and India Theater. He was a member and past Commander of the Parisville VFW Post #5740. He was a Civilian Conservation Corp worker. He was employed in Detroit for Packer’s Motor Car. After returning to Paris Township, Archie farmed and worked for Booms Construction for 25 years, retiring in 1981. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish in Parisville, where he was a member and past president of the Men’s Club. He was also a member of the St. Mary Building Committee and spent many years working the church chicken dinners. Archie was an honorary member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council #3823.

June Ann Tenbusch, age 75 of Harbor Beach, MI went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Covenant Harrison Hospital of Saginaw, MI surrounded by her family. June was born on January 22, 1943 in Lansing,MI the daughter of the late Earl and Hazel (Anderson) Norton. She was united in marriage at Saint Anthony Church in Helena, MI to Floyd Bernard Tenbusch on December 29, 1959. Floyd preceded her in death on April 19, 2013. From a young age June enjoyed decorating cakes, quilting, painting and many other crafts. She spent a lifetime sharing her creativity with many friends, family and acquaintances. She decorated countless wedding, shower and birthday cakes. She ensured each grandchild was given a quilt and oil painting which were bright, vibrant colors just like her personality. She also had a love for playing cards. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Bad Axe Senior Center. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her loving family. A smile would come to her face when she was able to share her interest of crafting and her strong faith in God.

Mrs. Agnes T. Kucharczyk, 84 of Ubly, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. She was born on August 13, 1934 in Ruth to the Late Theodore and Petronella (Hessling) Geiger. She married Harold Kucharczyk on August 28, 1954 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Agnes was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul High School. She worked on the family farm and for several local cafes as a server. Agnes received her CNA certificate from St. Clair Community College and worked for local nursing homes caring for residents. She was a bus driver for the Ubly Community Schools and also worked for Hamill Manufacturing in Ubly. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish in Parisville where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the St. Isidore Rosary Sodality. She was a member of the Daughter of Fidelis Regina Circle #608. Agnes enjoyed local shopping trips, all people and animals, playing cards, polka music and dancing, quilting with her family.

Margaret L. McKillop, 95, of Port Austin, MI died peacefully Friday evening, November 16, 2018 at Country Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Pigeon, Michigan, her home since January, 2018. She had been under hospice care since October 19th. She was born the daughter of the late Dominic (Dick) F. and Cecile L. (Lucy) (Gerardo) Berta on September 18, 1923 in Highland Park, Michigan. She and Robert S. McKillop were married in Highland Park on March 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1995. While Robert served in the Army during WWII, she had graduated from the College of Education at Wayne State University and taught elementary school in Detroit for 4 years. Years later she substituted in the Ferndale School District. Margie and Bob moved to Port Austin from Pleasant Ridge, Michigan in 1994, after buying her parents’ house. They continued the tradition of having extended family summer holiday picnics in their yard, which continues to this day. She was a former member of Drayton Avenue Presbyterian Church in Ferndale, Michigan. After moving near Port Austin she became a member of Kinde Presbyterian Church.

She graduated from Laker High School, MI in 1964. She married Robert John McPhail June 18, 1966 in Linkville, MI; he preceded her in death November 11, 2003. Joan was a nurse at Hills & Dales General Hospital in Cass City, MI until the arrival of her only daughter Michelle on October 25, 1969. She has provided daycare for many children throughout her lifetime. Among her favorite pastimes were gardening, cooking and spending time with family.

James J. Mazure, 81, of Harbor Beach, passed away peacefully at Thumb McLaren Hospital under hospice care on November 14, 2018. He was born on March 5, 1937 to the late Frank & Alice (Buchkowski) Mazure. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Lake Huron School, and served in the US Army. Jim was united in marriage to Carol Geiger on October 19, 1957. Together they farmed until his retirement, and for the last 11 years they spent winters at their home in Winter Haven, Fl. Jim loved playing games, especially euchre, pinochle, pay the old lady, and dominoes, and spending time with his family.

She graduated from Harbor BeachHigh School and attended County Normal School. She married Clyde Schlabach on November 11, 1944 in Harbor Beach; he preceded her in death October 27, 2000. Elizabeth taught at several Huron County rural schools. She was a member of the Community Wesleyan Church in Elkton. She enjoyed time spent baking.

Mr. Larry James Silver, 70 of Bad Axe, passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2018. He was born on September 14, 1948 in Bad Axe, MI to the late George and Reva (Davis) Silver. Larry was a graduate of Ubly High School. He served two years in the US Navy before going to work at Labadie in Bay City in the body shop. He was eventually promoted to body shop manager and spent 18 years with Labadie, before joining Farm Bureau Insurance Company as an auto insurance adjuster. He was still employed with Farm Bureau up until his death. Larry enjoyed building model trains, collecting and firing guns, watching Westerns and NASCAR on TV, attending tractor pulls, as well as playing Euchre. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Maria Carmella Brown, 89, of Port Austin died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in her home. She was born on July 22, 1929, the daughter of Frank and Paulina (Mazza) Squillace in Jersey City, New Jersey. Maria and Robert Brown were married in Detroit, Michigan on August 20, 1955. Maria was a 1979 graduate of Oakland University earning an BA Degree in English and Masters in education there. She taught at Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights, retiring from teaching in 1987. She and Robert moved from Sterling Heights to Port Austin in 1992. They were summer residents in Port Austin from 1982-1992. She enjoyed both reading and writing.

Michael L. Eilers, 64, of Pigeon and formerly of Bad Axe, passed away on November 6, 2018 at Scheurer Hospital after a long illness. He was born on October 24, 1954 in Bad Axe to the late Alvin and Christina (Kubacki) Eilers. Michael retired from the Huron County Road Commission. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, hunting, fishing and watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings.

Jeffrey was born June 10, 1959 in Bad Axe, son of Jim and Gail (Parker) Millgard. Jeffrey graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1977 and joined the Navy shortly afterward. After discharge, he began painting for Millgard Painting. He doted on his nieces, nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. He enjoyed golfing with his dad, feeding and watching his birds and caring for his dog Lady. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and running around on his RV. He also enjoyed talking and spending time with his VA buddies.

Edward A. Bumhoffer, 91, of Elkton, MI, went to be with his Lord Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon, MI. Ed was born October 2, 1927 at home in Oliver Township, MI to the late Anton and Catherine (Metzger) Bumhoffer. He attended the Oliver #5 (Weiss) CountrySchool, graduating from Elkton High School in 1945. After serving in the US Army of Occupation following World War II, he was discharged in June 1947. Ed helped on the family farm and later was employed by Brown’s Produce in Bad Axe, MI. On April 7, 1951 he was united in marriage to Anna M. Meininger of Gagetown, MI at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, MI making their home in Elkton; she preceded him in death June 28, 2013. In July of 1958 Ed was appointed Postmaster of Elkton and served faithfully in that position until his retirement in February 1988. He was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years and holding various elected offices in the church most of his life. In addition he was a member and former officer of the Elkton Rotary Club, Elkton Civic Organization, a life member of Elkton VFW Post #6013, Huron County TRIAD member, and was a past president of the Elkton Area Historical Society.

McArdle at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2015. Dorothy was a skilled seamstress. She was an avid reader, loved to play scrabble and enjoyed quilting. She loved to travel and camp with family and the Good Sam’s Club.

Mr. David Michael Grifka, 49 of Ubly, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Dave was born on May 12, 1969 in Bad Axe to the late Jerry and Marie (Rumptz) Grifka. He married Denise Koroleski on April 27, 1991 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. He was a 1987 graduate of Ubly High School and enjoyed being a member of the FFA, playing football and farming. After high school, Dave attended Ferris State University. Once he obtained his electrical license, he began working for Kincaid Electric of Ubly and Maurer Electric of Bad Axe. Shortly after that, he joined Local #58 IBEW and stayed a member for 23 years. He worked for many contractors until he and his wife established Grifka Electric LLC in 2005. They owned and maintained the business for 2 ½ years. From there, Dave worked with many companies as a Project Manager/Estimator, until he found his place at Center-Line Electric. Dave may have never attended Michigan State University, he was a lifelong fan of MSU football and spent every Saturday of the season with family and friends yelling at the television. He coached the Smigielski’s Major League softball team for 5 years with his best friend. He loved camping, golfing, county tours with his buddies, bowling and rabbit hunting in his younger years. Dave was most passionate about spending most of his free time with his loving wife and children.

She was preceded in death by brothers: Lloyd [Lucy], Lou [Irene], Clarence [Clara] Ray [Donna], Eddie [Helen] and John Osentoski and sisters: Anna [Tom] Tanton, Theresa [Peter] Rumptz, Irene [Harold] Lee and Lucille Glowzinski. There are many surviving nieces and nephews who visited Minnie frequently when she moved in 2016 to a loving second home at Country Gardens in Pigeon.
Minnie Cook, age 95, passed away peacefully October 30, 2018 at Country Gardens in Pigeon, MI with family by her side. Minnie was born on March 25, 1923 in Austin Township to the late Laura [Grifka] and Peter Osentoski. Dear husband, Walter, passed away in 2016. She is survived by five children: Marge Lanzi, Lorraine [Dan] Beechuk, Gloria [Charlie] Seitz, Clare [Sue] Cook and Wayne [Linda] Cook. In addition grandchildren: David [Theresa] Lanzi, Paul [Heather] Lanzi, Kimberly [Jason] Brown, Robert [Robyn] Beechuk, Wendy [Glenn] Joslyn, Tyler Cook, Zachary [Sarah] Cook, Jason [Rhonda] Cook, and Alicia [Richard] Dondineau. Minnie is great-grandmother to Josh Maloney, Jessica Joslyn, Tom, Natalie and Katie Lanzi, Tenley and Carson Cook, Colin Beechuk, Bruce and Grayson Cook and Roman Dondineau. Lulu Maloney is Minnie’s great-great granddaughter. Minnie worked in the Detroit auto industry and was one of the original Rosie the Riveters. Walter and Minnie were united in marriage on October 13, 1945 in Ubly, Michigan. After 40 years of farming [right beside her husband], they retired in 1985. Minnie was a life time member of OLLH Church. She enjoyed the Port Hope and Harbor Beach Senior Clubs. She and Walter enjoyed traveling in their retirement. They could be seen frequently enjoying polka dancing. Primarily, Minnie just loved people and would enjoy visiting most of all. She provided a beautiful, loving home with abundant food and conversation.

Mr. Leroy James Page, 74 of Ruth, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Henry Ford Detroit Hospital. He was born on August 12, 1944 in Ruth to the late David and Christina (Booms) Page. Leroy was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul High School. He was employed at Tower (aka Active) and was a mail carrier for 44 years, retiring in 2015. He was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth since 1987 where he was a very active member of the Usher’s Club. Leroy enjoyed the accordion, farming, playing euchre, Uno, checkers and visiting with dear family and friends.
