Eugene Younglove, 84, of Bad Axe, passed away on November 27, 2015 at Courtney Manor. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 7, 1931 to the late Alfred and Catherine (Chaple) Younglove. Eugene enjoyed old western movies especially the ones that stared John Wayne and walking around town. In fact, you probably saw him a time or two. He loved any kind of candy and wasn’t afraid to let anyone know that.

Thomas Michael Ahearn, 66, of Bad Axe, passed away on November 26, 2015 at his home. Tom was born in Bad Axe to the late Thomas and Mary Ann (Shine) Ahearn on February 4, 1949. Tom served in the U.S. Navy until 1971 following his graduation from Bad Axe High School. He worked as a journeyman electrician until his retirement from Tower Automotive. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and western movies. He spent a great deal of time outside enjoying nature and was happiest when surrounded by his family. Tom also enjoyed riding his motorcycles. He was greatly loved, intelligent, a wealth of knowledge to his children and always encouraging his children.

Norman W. Lange age 77 of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Saginaw St. Mary’s Hospital following complications from a stroke. Born on June 4, 1938 in Port Hope, he was the son of the late Theodore and Bertha (Pleiness) Lange. Norman and Bernice A. Klaska were united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1960 in Harbor Beach. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach. Norman was the former owner of the Blue Water Lanes Bowling Alley in Harbor Beach and retired from Harbor Beach Community Schools in 1998 after 18 years of service. He enjoyed spending his time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He also loved working in his flower beds and growing mums.

Alma Pitcher, 92, of Filion, died Thursday at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad axe. She was born July 9, 1923, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Vera (Pettit) Merrick. She and Roy Pitcher were married in Detroit, Michigan on July 31, 1943. He preceded her in death. She and her husband were lifetime Lincoln Township farmers. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Frank Horetski Post 499 in Port Austin, a member of the U & I, Kinde Senior Citizens, and the First Presbyterian Church of Back Axe. Alma enjoyed playing cards, bowling and her family.

Rosemarie Manial age 87, of Elkton died Wednesday evening, November 25, at Covenant Cooper, Saginaw. She was born January 16, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Andrew and Catherine (Wysopal) Krawczak. Rose grew up in Saginaw and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1947. On April 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Manial in Saginaw. They moved to Elkton August 1, 1967 where they raised their family. Charlie preceded her in death March 6, 1981. Rose was employed at a shoe store in Saginaw until moving to Elkton, she then worked at Hamill Mfg, Bad Axe a number of years. She worked at Suds Ur Duds and Thumb Petroleum in Elkton until retiring. She then stayed busy baby setting many of the kids in town. Rose was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed dining out, doing crossword puzzles, dancing with her husband, setting on her front porch and spending time with her children and grandkids.

John C Pechette age 83 of Pinnebog died Wednesday evening, November 18, at Huron Medical Center. He was born December 14, 1931 in Chandler Twp at the home of his parents, the late Louis and Catherine (Stephens) Pechette. John grew up on the family farm and was a 1949 graduate of Elkton High School. After high school, went to Michigan State. On November 5, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mildred Dolinski at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Detroit. They moved to a farm near Pinnebog the following year. Mildred preceded him in death on June 21, 2006. John was a lifelong member of St Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog. He was passionate sports fan and enjoyed playing all sports, during his freshman year; he played football for Michigan State. He loved to watch the Detroit Lions and Tigers, Spartans, for that matter, any game that was televised. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing and traveling. His competitive nature/spirt was disguised by his calm demeanor. His true passion was his family, especially his grandchildren.

She graduated from Detroit Denby High School in 1944. On October 19, 1946 she married Donald R. Barbret in Detroit. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2011. She raised her family in Detroit and then in 1970 the family moved to Caseville. She was an active member of the community, involved with the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, Caseville Retirees, Library Club and Cross Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and euchre, and with her husband she was an accomplished ballroom dancer.

He was born on August 3, 1923 in Bad Axe to the late Clarence and Rose (Smith) Armstead. He married Virginia Cook on September 16, 1944. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2003. Jack was a member of the Harbor Beach Presbyterian Church. He was a longtime employee and now retiree of Hercules in Harbor Beach. Before moving to Elkhart, IN to live with his son Gary, Jack was a “regular” at the early morning coffee/card club at the Harbor Beach Community House.

BETHANY M. CHESNEY, age 90 of Harbor Beach, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at Genesee Care Center in Grand Blanc. Bethany was born January 18, 1925 in Harbor Beach to the late Melvin and Myrtle (Maule) Stephenson. Beth and Warren Barclay were married in 1943 in Port Hope. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1948. Beth was married to Durwood Chesney on April 11, 1957 in Harbor Beach. Durwood preceded her in death on March 11, 2008. Gayari; children: Laura (Kevin) Burk of Pigeon, Karen (Mark) Hicks of Williamston, Jenifer (Kevin) Green of Cass City, Stephen (Michelle) Gayari of Pigeon, and Michelle Gayari (David Bausch) of Ann Arbor; grandchildren: Tiffany (Eddie) Lorkowski, Kevin (Tiffany) Burk, Nathan Hicks, Andrew Hicks, Chelsea Green, Brandon Green, Ariel Green, Shawn Gayari, Kyle Gayari, and Cassie Gayari; great-grandsons, Luke, Jonathan, and Zachary Lorkowski; siblings, Judy (Jerry) Woods of Taylor, Philip (Eileen) Gayari of Caseville, and Roxanne (Dan Quinn) Errer of Caseville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald Chris “Ron” Gayari, 75 of Owendale, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the James Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw Township with his family by his side. Ron was born in Pigeon on October 14, 1940 to Christopher S. and Helen Eva (Bletl) Gayari. He was a 1958 graduate of Pigeon High School, and attended Business College in Bay City for two years. On January 27, 1962 he was united in marriage to Elaine R. Drummond at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon, and they have celebrated more than 53 years of marriage. Ron had three loves in his life: his wife, his family, and farming. He even planted crops this past spring and thrashed wheat this summer. Ron was a lifetime member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, as well as the St. Francis Hospitality Committee and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Brookfield Township Board of Review. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards, and making wine, including this fall. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Linda Ann Kozlowski, 66, of Filion, passed away on November 9, 2015 at Covenant Harrison, Saginaw after an extended illness, with her family by her side. Linda was born on March 9, 1949 in Bad Axe to Raymond Stockoski and the late Elizabeth (Rice) Stockoski. On June 29, 1974, she married the love of her life, David E. Kozlowski at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin. Linda was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Dwight Township. She graduated from Port Austin High School in 1967. Linda enjoyed her flower gardens, working on puzzles, sewing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary Amelia Bursick, age 95, of Bad Axe, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. She was born on March 25, 1920 in Kinde, daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Kennedy) Ligrow. She married Cletus Bursick on November 28, 1946 in Kinde. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2003.

Veal, and his wife, Julie, of Kimball Township; five grandchildren, Sarah Roberts, and her husband Nate, of Oak Park, IL; Erin Modrzynski , and her husband, Kristopher, of Clarkston; Claire Romzek, and her husband, Gavin, of Las Vegas, NV; William Jarred Veal, and his wife, Dee, of Aberdeen, MD; and Garrett Veal of Port Huron; nine great-grandchildren, Samuel, Grace and William Modrzynski; Caleb and Graham Roberts; Owen, Maxwell and Lyla Romzek; and William ”Liam” E. Veal. She is also survived by a brother, Leo Shubitowski, and his wife, Johanna, of Walpole, MA, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Veal was preceded in death by four sisters: Agatha Conboy; Esther Ashley; Doris Peterson and Clara Turner.
Patricia Ellen Veal, 85, died November 6, 2015, after a short illness. She was born February 28, 1930, daughter of Leo and Ellen Anna (Stapleton) Shubitowski. She married Thomas John Veal on August 20, 1949, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2010. Mrs. Veal was a graduate of Our Lady of Lake Huron High School. She worked at the Harbor Beach Creamery for several years. Later she worked at Veal & Kamp Plumbing & Heating from 1960 to 1984. She enjoyed her travels to Arizona and Florida with her husband. Taking care of her home, cooking and baking various desserts, eating anything chocolate and playing Yahtzee were among her favorite past times. Her greatest joy was spending time with great-grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Scott Jr. and Ronald Scott.
Mrs. Jane A. Pagel, 73 of Palms, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Autumnwood of Deckerville. She was born on July 17, 1942 in Port Huron to the late Robert and Doris (Young) Scott. She married Wayne Pagel on April 23, 1964 at St. John Lutheran Church in Palms. Jane was a graduate of the Deckerville Community School. She worked at Deckerville Die Form for 45 years, before retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Palms for 64 years where she was a Ladies Aide. Jane enjoyed horses and was on the 4-H Horse Committee.
