Last Friday April 2, at approximately 11:30pm, Secure City Patrol troopers from the Michigan State Police Flint Post heard approximately twenty-gun shots while on a traffic stop. The MSP helicopter, Trooper 1, assigned to assist patrols in Flint was in the air. It was quick to identify several people in the area running from a vehicle towards a residence in the City of Flint. They radioed to troopers to use caution as they observed from above that several persons appeared to have firearms. Troopers responded to the area and observed several people with guns in their hands. One of the subjects ran from the scene carrying an AR-15 style rifle. Others at the scene placed their guns on the ground as requested. The helicopter then directed troopers to the AR-15 hidden in the back yard.
Everyone was detained and questioned about the shots fired and illegally possessed firearms. This investigation led to the seizure of several firearms, and 60 rounds of ammunition. This investigation has been forwarded to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office for review and appropriate charges.
