While the agenda was short for the Bad Axe City Council this time around, the significance of this meeting is that it was the first one in-person since March, the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
A few chairs were scattered around the Hall as Social Distancing practices were observed, and a few members were not present at the in-person meeting.
In the meeting, the council approved the Contract Extension for the Police and Teamsters Unions which ended June 30th. It has now been extended to December 31st, with negotiations starting on or about October 1st, due to concerns about State Deficits and Payments due to the Pandemic.
The council also approved the MML Workers' Compensation Fund Official Ballot for 2020.
Recommendations for the Approval of a $4,833.55 quote from CCI for Chemical Feed Systems and Waste Water Treatment Plant Samplers were approved, as well as the payment of the bills for just over $36,000.
Finally, City Manager Dale VanDeVusse commented that since the City Hall was opened to the public, with hours of 9AM to 3PM, roughly 25% of the normal amount of customers have showed up to pay bills in-person, with 75-80% of those customers wearing masks.
