Fire destroys barn northeast of Kinde Thursday morning - video

Kinde Area Fire Department, with a full assist from Port Austin Fire Department were called to the scene of a barn fire northeast of Kinde at 6:17 Thursday morning, April 16, 2020. The fire was at 5788 Hellems Road, between Schott and Moeller Roads. The older hip roof barn was destroyed. Kinde Area Fire Chief Adam Zimmerman told us that there was a lawn mower and a four wheeler inside, but the total damage was estimated at about 10 thousand dollars. Fire fighters used about 12 thousand gallons to put the fire out and were on the scene for about 2 1/2 hours. There were no injuries and nothing else at the scene was threatened. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Central Huron Ambulance and Michgan state police also assisted at the scene.
