The Bad Axe Board of Education held it's regular meeting Tuesday night, where Bad Axe college adviser Mrs. Rebecca Roggenbuck was able to present an update on the many activities and work done since the beginning of the school year in regards to college access and post-secondary planning with students. Recently, some high school students were able to visit different campuses including SVSU University, Delta University and Alma University, to see first-hand what they can expect as their education continues. Currently 68% of Bad Axe seniors have completed their FAFSA Student Aid application, with a school-wide goal being 70% of senior students. May 1st is College Signing Day, when seniors will be celebrated as they make their decisions on which university to attend after graduation. Mr. Newland shared information gathered during the strategic planning sessions held last November, and touched on a few key areas that Bad Axe Schools are excelling in, and some that they can improve. In other action, Melodie Kociba presented the budget revision for the 2018-2019 school year, which has been reduced due to increases in revenue from enrollment projections and unexpected federal funding. Finally, the Board approved the appointment of Denice Palmer to the District Library Board.
