Wintery weather was typical of what they would experience as Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson let us know that they had an airboat training session in the Caseville area at Mud Creek late Monday morning. The training was scheduled a couple of weeks ago and is one of at least three yearly that they have. The vessel is jointly owned by the Huron and Tuscola County Sheriffs Departments and it's primary usage is in areas of marsh or on the ice. Hanson said "they were able to get out but never spent a lot of time on the open water because the winds did steadily increase during the noon hour and turned to the northwest, making it rougher, as opposed to being out of the north northeast which was forecasted. Eight deputies were part of the exercise, with two being the Tuscola deputies who have been assigned to the on call program. This is the type of weather that they're normally out in when they get called and yesterday turned out to be good training to prepare them for what may come their way this winter."
