The Huron County Safe Place held their Annual Appreciation Banquet at the Verona Hills Golf Club. The emotionally moving event took place Wednesday night, and started off with Board President Lori Swartzendruber greeting guest with a warm welcome and a thank you to everyone who makes Safe Place possible. Former Commissioner Clark Elftman recited a prayer and Vocalist Emma Johnson preformed a song before a delicious dinner was served. Huron County Safe Place mission is to protect and keep women and children safe, and Detective Richard Koehler explained without them it would be difficult for law enforcement. Detective Koehler gave a very informative speech on how much Huron County needs Safe Place, they take care of all the victims and family's needs that have dealt with domestic violence or criminal sexual conduct. Shelter Operations Manager MJ Story said "it means so much to see outpouring support from the community and gathering together and recognizing these issues." One of the Residential Service Advocates Ashley Isham stated "it feels great helping everyone, and to get people out of horrible situations where they can't help themselves." The Huron County Safe Place is a very worthy cause and is always accepting donations. For further information contact (989) 269-5300.
