The Huron County Expo Center in Bad Axe starts their 8 week process to flood the ice rink. With someone flooding every four hours by the time the ice rink is all done tens of thousand gallons of water is used. The ice comes out to be anywhere from 8 to 12 inches thick depending on where you are at with the ground being unleveled the lower spots need to be filled. Once the ice gets to an average of 9 inches thick it is painted white then flooded with 3 more layers of ice, then the logos, lines, circles, and sponsorships get laid down. After all those are laid down a final inch of ice is put on top. When the ice is ready to go the yellow backer boards are put on around the rink.
