Thumb Quilt Trail Dedicates 100th Quilt to Cass City Astronaut (Video)

Tuesday marked the 100th Quilt Block added to the Thumb Area Quilt trail and it was only fitting for the block to be in memory of a prominent member of the community, NASA Astronaut, Brewster H. Shaw.
The Quilt was dedicated in honor of the Cass City local and high school graduate who was a NASA astronaut starting in 1978. It is decorated with blue and red colors and a quaint depiction of a rocket ship blasting off into space.
Thumb Quilt Trail started in October of 2014 and this was a very proud day for the committee, shared President Pam Stilwell-Binder.
"It is a very big sense of accomplishment," Pam shared. "This has been, since we opened in 2014, a goal. I wanted to hit a hundred. I had no idea we would hit it this quickly."
A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony took place at noon in the Cass City Municipal Park and it will hang there on display to infinity and beyond.
