In other news, the Ecology Club will be taking a trip to the Upper Peninsula as the board approved the proposed trip presented by Principal Kurt Dennis of the High School.
Dennis also proposed some changes for the high school. In discussion he proposed that students who take advanced placement courses have their grade point average weighted to make valedictorian and salutatorian positioning fair. It was also suggested that students be allowed semester finals exemption next school year as a reward and would also be a positive in regards to final grades.
Finally, presented an exercise in grading and suggested the current grading system in the high school was negatively effecting certain students at a higher risk of droping out.
Dennis stated, "The Eleven Point Scale is very acceptable in the education world..It is truly aimed at helping the lower kids."
The ideas were tabled to be examined prior to the next meeting.
Debbie Gainor was recommended to fill the vacant position on the District Library Board while custodian, Harold Berridge, resigned.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
