Pete's Bar will remain Pete's but with new owners to add to the list, Craig and Daisy Harris of Bad Axe.
Craig would frequent the bar maybe once a week for shuffleboard, but he and his wife Daisy, a history teacher at USA Schools, had no prior knowledge of owning or running a bar. After their son expressed an interest in owning a bar, Craig did some research online about the expectations of owning a bar.
Craig had a passion for owning a bar for many years, and being close to retirement age this endeavor was considered by many to be "crazy." Though, with the help of a dedicated and long-time staff already on hand and a broker that helped with the buying process and other work involved, as of May, Craig and Daisy together now own their own bar.
The summer months are slower, shared Daisy and Craig, which gives them a chance to learn more about the business while also working on new events and experiences to bring to cliental.
"I mean, I'm sixty-two, " Craig said. "Some people say, 'you're crazy' and that, but Roy's dad, Roy Sr., bought it when he was sixty-seven. People ask me all the time, you know, 'are you still having fun,' and yeah, I like it...there's just stuff you got to learn to do and get a routine."
The bar is open everyday of the week subject to different hours with the same great people and bartenders as it always has.
