The Huron County Planning Commission held their regular meeting Wendesday at 7 p.m. containing mostly new business regarding protocal and the termination applications for several PA 116 land parcels.
The meeting begain at 7 p.m. but after much discussion over the approval for the May 16th meeting minutes offical business did not begin until 7:15.
Communications in the meeting included information presented to the committee around eight different zoning ordinances in the State of Michigan for solar. The reason, Jeff Smith shared, was that these ordinances are subjected to the same solar ordinance and planning acts as Huron County would be and also provided individual cases and circumstances to set as exampled. Members were encouraged throughout the meeting to do their own research and provide feedback on their own findings.
Old business was the introduction of the liason provided for the Huron County Hazard Mitigation Plan who as able to introduce himself and discusss his roles. There was also word offered on the Apple Blossom Wind L.L.C. operation which just recently had installed their new transformer which was online. The previous one failed and was not replaced for several months.
New business made up most of the meeting with discussion and recommendation regarding several land parcels in the county being terminated from PA 116, which is in reagrds to farmland preservation. Troy Stock, part of the Stock Living Trust, applied for a partial termination of 1.35 acres in Sebewaing Township. The application indicates that it would be for two acres due to a large structure in the parcel that will not follow mandate in PA 116. Action to reccomend the termination was approved. The matter of Terry Jurgess and the Jurgess PA 116 parcel termination was tables due to precendence that might be set should it be allowed to be terminated from farm use. The matter of precedence was suggested by Mr. Tenbusch. A fairly lengthy application from Bill Weitzel was introduced to terminate a parcel acre of 0.95 from PA 116. Though, because of the complexity of the application involving several transactions and owners of the land it caused much discussion.
There was more communications presented towards the end of the meeting; particularly, a course offering for members regarding 'hot topics' in zoning and planning. Four members did suggest that they would attend the course with Jeff Smith, at $91 per person.
After discussion ended and no comments were left to offer the meeting was adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
