Ubly Interviews Candidates for Open DPW Position (Video)

Three candidates were interviewed for the supervising Department of Public Works position in Ubly as part of a special meeting.
The meeting was kicked-off with the normal procedures, starting at 7 p.m., with a the pledge of allegiance and roll call of trustees of which Lola Brown was excused and Joe Cuddington was absent. Then the interview process began.
First was candidate David Franzel who moved to Ubly in 1990, having grown up outside of the village. His wife was present at the interview, they have two children, a daughter and son. Franzel stated, "I feel, for one, I'm a resident here and always wanted to get involved in the community, give back to the community." Franzel has experienCE has a foreman and other labor force related jobs.
Second, Bruce Sweeney, still has a house in the area. Though he works in the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant. He stated, "I feel I have experience for the job. I do have water treatment experience, distribution experience. I don't experience with the lagoon, but I do have educational experience that I acquired through Delta College."
The third candidate was Robert Widger, also having moved to Ubly with his family, ten years ago. He currently works as a laborer in a Flint-area excavating company which has sent him travelling around the state, and parts of the U.S.
Each of the candidates were asked the same series of questions of which they all provided their best answers. The Ubly Village Council will deliberate at Thursdays meeting at 7 p.m. Should the candidates wish to attend they may. Otherwise, they will be contacted on Friday with the results of the interview process.
