The Huron County Planning Commission met Wednesday evening for a special meeting in regards to extending their moratorium for revisions to the current solar energy zoning ordinance.
According to Chairman Robert McLean, "The purpose of the extension of the moratorium is to give us additional time to work through the issues in putting an ordinance together, and we are working on updating our Master Plan which is overdue, so it's taking a little longer than I thought it would."
All members of the public were allowed to speak on the issue of the moratorium extension as well as the issue of the solar ordinance, only one member of the public spoke. Huron County Board of Commissioners' Sami Khoury commented on the lack of turnout of general public during meetings, suggesting that more members of the public that wish to have their opinions heard should attend the meetings, which the Planning Commission would appreciate.
The Commissioners approved the amendment to extend the moratorium of Amendment to Article XV on the Commercial Solar Energy System Zoning Ordinance, allowing them more time to discuss the issues at hand.
