Imagine you ask a child what they aspire for in a career, and they tell you, "I want to be a rapper."
That's the story of Dillan Adams, the voice and personality behind, Adams Avenue, a local rapper and musical artist in Huron County.
He may be characterized as a bit eccentric or weird, his pursual of music as more than a hobby may even appear dumbfounding to most, but Adams has created quite a name for himself. Dillan has performed with esteemed artists Hopsin and Token and collaborated with local artists such as Dorian Leese.
Rapping is more than just 'spitting beats' it is a craft that takes full emotion and hours of no sleep. Working two full-time jobs, Adams only has five hours per weekday to sleep, in that time his music takes precedence, as he stated, "If something comes, you have to go with it, you can't stop until it's done."
For Dillan this is no hobby "it's more of a passion." Dillan remarked, "if the money comes it comes, but it's not important." He has been fully invested into this art for years, starting in his youth in St. Ignace to his early adulthood here in the Thumb.
To his critics he says he is not doing this for them, rather, "you have to be your number one fan," he said. "If you aren't than who is."
