A total of 3-4 buildings were lost in a large fire on Bay Port Road just a half mile south of Kilmanagh. Matt Bumhoffer of the Sebewaing Fire Department told us they were called out to the location around 12:30 Friday afternoon. Lost in the fire were a barn, a garage, a shed type building, and a smaller out building. According to Bumhoffer, no one currenly lives at the addres, but someone had been at the location earlier in the week burning garbage in the burn pit on the southwest side of the barn. Despite the rain that we received, the wind blew what remained of the wet garbage off and rekindled the embers underneath, which then blew and started the barn on fire. Fire fighters were able to save the house and another building. Sebewaing Fire received a full assist from the Owendale and Fairhaven Fire Departments, and tanker assist from the Winsor Fire Department. They were on the scene about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Sebewaing Fire Department were called back out later that evening around 8:30 to take care of some hot spots.
