Elkton Village hall packed for meeting concerning future of Police Chief Scott Jobes- update with video

Approximately 100 people turned out, and packed the Elkton Village Hall, inside and out for a special Elkton Village Council meeting that was called concerning Police Chief Scott Jobes (joh-bz). While the agenda for the meeting called for employee termination, that really never was what was discussed as it quickly turned into three issues for reprimand. By the time the council had discussed it, they had that down to two written reprimands in his file and one verbal. The issues ranged from not signing the new police department policy the council had approved, a policy that Jobes had problems with that could result in him working every weekend through the summer months, to not submitting part time officers schedules to the police committee and an a matter at the Autumnfest involving not ejecting minors from the "refreshment tent" where alcohol was served in a timely manner. A council member on a ride along with Jobes that night noted that they were called to an accident, and a search for a missing individual during that period. Once the Council had approved the reprimands, it was time for the public comments, which all were in support of Jobes. Some cited how they believed the council may have not followed civil service protocols, while others cited Jobes 29 years of service to the town, and all he has done for the community.
