The Caseville Fire Department was able to rescue a poodle type dog from the Pigeon River Saturday. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson said Caseville Fire Chief Ben Willenberg's wife received a phone call around noon asking for help retrieving a dog on an ice floe. Members of the Caseville Fire Department and the Caseville Police Department were able to find the dog near the Municipal Harbor. A firefighter wearing an ice rescue suit was able to swim to the dog and bring the animal back to shore. At the same time, an elderly female called 911 looking for her dog. The dog wandered from her home Friday night. They have been reunited and the owner is appreciative of the Caseville Fire Department.
