Fire that was believed to have started with an unattended live Christmas tree that was left with the lights on while the homeowners visited nearby relatives resulted in a Christmas night fire that destroyed the home. Kinde Area Fire Chief Adam Zimmerman said firemen were called to the Jodi Wolschleger house at 1315 Church Road near Crockard Road just before 10pm. When they arrived the house was engulfed in flames. He said the loss was valued at about 90 thousand dollars. Kinde Area Firemen has a full assist from the Bad Axe, Port Austin and Sigel Fire Departments and were on the scene about 3 1/2 hours. Zimmerman said the extreme cold and wind hampered the firefighting effort. There were no injuries, and nothing else was threatend.
