Fire in Port Austin April 29th_ 2025 (Huron County)

There was a Fire today in the Oak Beach/Port Austin area at approximately 3:40PM. The Port Austin Fire Department responded to the fire and was assisted by Kinde Fire Department.
The firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze until there were reports of an additional fire further down the road which Port Austin Fire Department responded again to extinguish the second fire.


The first fire burned approximately 1 acre.

The second fire approximately .5 acre.


DTE said they estimate the fire started when the tree crossed the power lines and a burning branch fell and started the fire.
