Just a few minutes before noon on Thursday, October 10th, a white Dodge passenger van had gone ablaze in the parking lot of the Bad Axe Meijer, just on the west edge of town on Pigeon Road. From what is understood at this time, the fire had started under the hood of the vehicle, and grew exponentially. Quickly after the fire had started, the Bad Axe Fire Department, assisted by the a Huron County Sheriff Deputy, had shown up ready and equipped to put out the burning vehicle. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported from this fire, as the driver and his dogs were determined to be unharmed. There was not any further damage to any surrounding vehicles reported, however the parking lot itself did sustain minor damage.
