The Huron County Community Foundation held their Annual Celebration at the DTE Huron Renewable energy Center in Bad Axe Thursday evening. The evening was put on to celebrate the accomplishments of the foundation. Halle Keim, member of the Youth Advisory Committee, discussed that being a member of the committee was well worth your time. Keim said that over $5,000 was given last year in grants. Jeff Leipprant talked about the ETL Agricultural Legacy Scholarship, named after his grandfather. The scholarship goes to a Laker graduate that will be studying agriculture at a college in the United States. Ed Raby from the Huron County Nature Center said that designated funds help to present the programs they offer at no cost to visitors. The Bad Axe Little League talked about how grateful they were to get a grant from the foundation for a new concession stand and restroom facility. The Huron County Community Foundation has put $380,000 into the community since 1999.
