While officials say the property owner had a burn permit, two area fire departments responded to the scene on Dunn Road, west of Elkton Road Monday Night on a report of a large fire. Assistant Caseville Fire Chief Frank Konke told us there was a barn that was taken down by the Amish at the scene and also some logs and debris that was burning. It created a large fire and officials told the owner not to put any more on it. They had gotten a burning permit for the fire, but got it from Elkton-Oliver Township Fire Department, when the property is actually in the Caseville Fire District. Konke said fire officials monitored the fire for a time to make sure it wasn't going to get out of hand, but they and Elkton Oliver Fire Department left after about an hour. There were no injuries. The large fire prompted someone to call Huron Central Dispatch sending out the fire crews. Fire fighters were called out 7:38 Monday night.
