Although the farmers' market in the village of Unionville is winding down for the season, plans are being developed for next year.
The Columbia Township Board of Trustees approved a donation request from the Unionville Farmers Market for $4,300 to refurbish and to repair the gazebo that is located in Kemp Park.
The market is held during the summer and fall months in Kemp Park, which is at the intersection of M-24 and M-25 and Bay City - Forestville Road.
The market has been operating in the park for about 12 years.
In other township related matters, the board of trustees approved an ordinance amendment allowing and governing of Caregiver Cultivation of Medical Marijuana and High Amperage Zoning.
In 2008, voters in Michigan approved medical marijuana, and in 2018 voters approved adult use of recreational marijuana.
And, the paving of Cass City Road from French Road to Graf Road was completed this month.
Also, the Columbia Township Library’s request for $6,600 Michigan Humanities HOPE Grant was approved.
