Port Austin damaged Saturday evening by probable tornado with several injuries -pics and video

The residents of Port Austin are picking up the pieces after a probable tornado struck the south end of town just before 6pm. In these cases, typically the National Weather Service will send someone to examine the damage pattern to confirm a tornado. The storm caused extensive damage in the area of M-53 and Grindstone road, which is M-25 heading east. There were fires, damage to structures, trees and power lines brought down. Emergency personnel from virtually everywhere in the county converged on the area to protect people and assess the damage.
