A crash in Lincoln Township on July 23rd resulted in two people being hospitalized, possibly due to a delayed turn signal. The incident occurred around 2:45 PM when an 18-year-old woman from Filion, driving a 2003 Saturn, attempted to turn left into a private driveway. She later stated she couldn't recall if she had activated her turn signal.
As the Saturn turned, it was struck by a 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 27-year-old woman from Williamston. The Jeep driver, following several cars, decided to pass when she didn't see a turn signal from the Saturn, leading to the collision.
Both the Saturn driver and her passenger, another 18-year-old woman from Bad Axe, sustained injuries. The driver reported hitting her head, while the passenger experienced pain in her face and mouth. They were both taken to McLaren Thumb Hospital for evaluation. The Jeep driver suffered a minor hand injury but declined hospital treatment.
According to Sergeant Dhyse of the Huron County Sheriff's Department, a witness traveling behind the Saturn reported seeing the turn signal activate just as the Jeep began to pass, which contributed to the unfortunate collision.
