The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Michigan 211 have launched a new website to provide grief and bereavement support. This site offers resources for those dealing with the loss of a loved one, including perinatal hospice, mental health support, and financial assistance.
Supported by a $490,000 grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, the website connects users with services like palliative care, burial and cremation options, and more. The initiative aims to support families after the loss of a mother or infant, helping them find the help they need.
Elizabeth Hertel, MDHHS director, says the service offers on-demand support, while Jennie Pollak of Michigan 211 highlights the ongoing need for resources during grief. Specialists are available through 211 to assist with finding the right support.
