There will soon be a major upgrade for recreational equipment in one of Sebewaing's playgrounds.

The village council received two bids to construct a new playscape in the village's Main Park, 127 South Third Street. One bid was from Wobig Construction Co., Inc. for $866,668, and the other bid for $913,769 was from Pumford Construction, Inc. Wobig Construction Company's low bid was accepted by the council.

The new playground equipment and its installation will be paid for using a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Spark Grant. In 2022 the village received a $1 million Spark Grant to fund the total replacement of the old playground structure, which had become outdated and dangerous to use because of its age. The new playscape will be built in the same location as the old one in the Main park, according to village Clerk Dena Kish.
