The Croswell City Council made a motion that will have an impact on utility payments.
On July 15, the council approved a motion for the Croswell Light and Power to "opt in" of collecting the low-income energy assistance funding.
The motion was approved with the understanding the city will now be able to shut off service to any residential customer from Nov. 1 to April 15 for non-payment of a delinquent account.
The council set the information on their decision to the Michigan Public Services Commission in Lansing. For additional information, on this matter Clerk Suzanne Dobson can be reached by calling city hall at 810-679-2299.
The next city council meeting will be at 7:30 p.m., on Aug 5, at the Croswell Community Center.
