On the morning of July 21st, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call about a missing 74-year-old woman with Alzheimer's. Sharron Perkins wandered away from a home on Bay City-Forestville Road in Forestville around 10:48 a.m.
Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies, along with the Delaware Township Fire Department, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Given the urgency and complexity of the situation, additional resources were summoned, including the Sanilac County Sheriff and MSP K-9 units, Sanilac County AERO and MSP Aviation Units, Sanilac County and Southeast Michigan Dive Group, Sanilac County Search & Rescue, Huron and Oakland County Sheriff's Offices, Minden City and Port Sanilac Fire Departments, and Christian Aid Ministries Search & Rescue.
Despite these extensive efforts, Sharron was still missing as of 11:00 p.m. She is described as a white female, 4'2", 93 lbs, with gray hair. She was last seen wearing a black pajama top with Disney characters, dark pants, and white shoes with gold zippers. Sharron is non-verbal and has dementia.
The family has announced another volunteer search for Monday morning, starting at 9 a.m. at the Forestville Village Office, and is appealing for more community help. "If you are willing to help, please join us at the Forestville Village Office. Please wear pants and walking shoes; the woods are thick," they advised.
A map highlighting the areas already covered in the search around Forestville has been provided to ensure new volunteers can focus their efforts efficiently. Even if you are outside these designated areas, the family urges you to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Sharron.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office immediately.
