A request for a millage issue to be on the August ballot to help fund Tuscola County's Central Dispatch operations was turned in to Tuscola County Commissioners, but the Commissioners didn't approve the request. Their rationale was that with so many other issues on the ballot, they were concerned voters would be overwhelmed and vote no on all requests.
However, they did not rule out the possibility of putting such an issue on the November ballot.
During the August election, commissioners will be asking voters to approve a new millage of .2000 mills for five years to fund home-delivered meals for senior citizens and shut-ins. If voters support the millage it would generate about $457,626 the first year for the exclusive use to deliver meals to senior citizens. The millage would cost about $8 more per year.
Commissioners will be asking voters to approve the following millage renewals. The renewal of .3200 of a mill for eight years to fund senior citizen services. If approved, the millage would generate about $732,202 the first year. It would continue to cost a property owner with an $80,000 home about $12.80 per year.
There will be a request to renew .1500 of a mill for eight years for recycling operations. If the request is approved, it would generate about $343,219 the first year, and it would continue to cost the property owner $80,000 about $20 per a year if approved.
Also, voters will be asked to approve renewal of 1.3300 mills for eight years to fund the road patrol. If voters approve the renewal, it would generate about $3,043,213, and it would continue to cost the property owner with an $80,000 home about $53.20 per year.
