June was a busy month for the Sebewaing DPW with several projects completed.
The department poured four yards of concrete around the catch basin that Kemp Tiling Company replaced on Seventh Street, and one yard of concrete was poured for the gutter pan from the catch basin replacement.
Workers also replaced the rubber backflow flap on pump two at the Main lift station, aerators were installed in pond one, trees were trimmed, the crosswalks were painted, and there were 76 loads of brush hauled away.
Besides the department's standard duties, they had to do the setup and tear down for the sugar festival, which took about 59 hours to do along with 17 hours of overtime.
In other matters, a new paint striper was approved at a cost of about $5,000 or less, emergent lighting was ordered for the village office and for the Main lift station that the DPW staff will install when they arrive.
There was also a discussion on the possible removal of the horseshoe pits, transferring the gazebo to the Third and Fredrick streets park, and to relocate the shed to the South diamond, but there was no action taken on the issues.
