Six-Week Repair Project Begins on Van Dyke Freeway

Drivers on the Van Dyke Freeway (M-53) in Bruce Township, Macomb County, will need to find alternate routes starting Tuesday at 6 a.m.

Northbound M-53 will be closed between 33 Mile and 35 Mile roads for about six weeks for repairs.

This project is part of a $5.3 million investment to repair the freeway from 27 Mile to 34 Mile roads, including pavement repairs, ramp repairs, and sidewalk installations.

34 Mile Road at M-53 will also be closed during construction.

MDOT has provided the following detour: Northbound M-53 traffic will be rerouted via northbound McKay Road and westbound Ebeling Road back to northbound M-53.

Plan your travel accordingly.
