Two special events were approved at this month's Elkton Village meeting.

It took a couple of years to accomplish using grants and donations to do the upgrades to get the walking path's development done, but the work is finally finished. According to village President Dan Armbruster, the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Elkton Community Walking Path will take place at 5 p.m., on Aug. 13, with all council members and community members invited to attend.

The other special event requested by Melissa Parrish on behalf of the Huron Youth Center was regarding Halloween. Parrish asked the council's permission to host a Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event on Saturday, Nov. 2, as well as allow North Main Street from M-142 to Hoffman Street be closed from 4 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. The council approved both requests.

After her requests were approved, Parrish gave an update on the heating and cooling system that is being installed at the Huron Youth Center, the electrical upgrade, and exterior painting that is being done to the center also.
