Dozens of Michigan counties remain under a Flood Watch as heavy rains from Hurricane Beryl continues to affect the Great Lakes region. Many areas could see 2 to 4 inches of rain before Wednesday night, so those in flood-prone areas should prepare to take action.

The Thumb area has been hit hard, with around 4.5 inches of rain in Marlette causing widespread flooding. Streets and low-lying areas are inundated, local fire departments and police are actively responding.

According to the Marlette Police Department, "it is the same areas that routinely flood. Fire departments are rerouting traffic until the water subsides. It was a lot of water in a short time for our system."

As the waters rise, remember the safety campaign, "Turn Around, Don't Drown." Flooding is the leading cause of weather-related deaths, often because people underestimate the power of water.
