This week's fishing report brings numerous success stories from Michigan's waters. In Eastern Saginaw Bay, walleye fishing has been variable, with catches reported in depths ranging from 10 to over 30 feet. Anglers are finding success over the bar towards the shipping channel and around Sunset Marina and Sebewaing, using crawler harnesses and body baits to cover extensive areas of water.
In Port Austin, walleye are active in depths of 20 to 30 feet near the harbor and west to Flat Rock, with crawler harnesses proving effective. Anglers are also landing salmon and trout in 100 to 120 feet of water between Port Austin and Grindstone using lead core setups with magnum spoons.
Harbor Beach has been productive for salmon and trout in depths of 70 to 90 feet north and east of the harbor, with lead core lines and silver streaks being successful tactics.
At Port Sanilac, salmon and trout action is strong in depths of 135 to 145 feet northeast of the harbor, with downriggers and various spoons yielding good results. Anglers are adapting their strategies to the changing conditions in these diverse Michigan waters to maximize their catches.
Before heading out, remember to check the weather conditions. The USGS provides an
online water map and the NOAA provides a
surface temperature mapto assist with planning your fishing trip effectively.
