Sanilac County officials announced a medical care service will be operational. The Sanilac Medical Care Facility's rehabilitation section will be opening after having been closed since the COVID pandemic.
The Sanilac Board of Commissioners approved using some of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) fund the county received to help offset the financial impact the pandemic had on the county and its services.
Commissioners used some of the ARPA Funds the county received to pay off the medical center's 2013 bond debt that had a balance of roughly $1.8 million.
The center at 137 North Elk St., will be operational again on Aug. 1 with its private and updated rooms in the therapy section, according to Medical Care Facility Director Nicole Miller.
To showcase the rehabilitation facility there will be a grand opening event on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Commissioner Roger Ballard noted the facility has made progressive strides over the last few months.
