Injury Crash in Maple Valley Township After Stop Sign Violation

A Sterling Heights man and a small child were injured after he ran a stop sign and struck a Brown City teen on Thursday.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 11:42 a.m. on July 4th, reporting a two-vehicle traffic crash. Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies, along with the Brown City Fire Department and Marlette EMS, were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of Burnsline and Shepherd Rds in Maple Valley Township.
According to Sheriff Deputies, a 50-year-old male from Sterling Heights was traveling north on Shepherd Road in a 2017 Infiniti. The Sterling Heights man disregarded the stop sign at Burnsline Road and struck a 2004 Ford Ranger being driven by an 18-year-old male from Brown City, who was traveling east on Burnsline Road.
The driver of the Ford Ranger and a small child passenger in the Infiniti were both injured. They were treated on scene by Brown City Fire and Marlette EMS before being transported to Marlette Regional Hospital.
This crash remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office.
