In Huron County District Court Tuesday, Thomas Ernst Meinhold was arraigned on charges stemming from an incident on May 23rd.
Meinhold faces charges of operating while intoxicated, open intoxicant in a vehicle, and a civil infraction for PBT refusal. Penalties for the misdemeanor charges include potential jail time and fines. A plea of not guilty was entered on Meinhold's behalf, as he stood mute during the proceedings.
Judge Ferris has set a timeline for the case. The prosecutor must provide a plea offer by June 14th, 2026. All discovery is also due by this date. A plea cutoff hearing is scheduled for July 9th, 2026, at 9 AM, which Meinhold is required to attend. He is expected to retain new legal counsel.
Bond was continued at $3,500, with 10% already posted. Conditions include a prohibition on possessing or consuming alcohol or controlled substances. Meinhold is also barred from locations where alcohol is sold or served, or where controlled substances are used. He must comply with pretrial services, including random drug and alcohol testing.
