A plea and sentencing hearing for Adam Michael Gonzalez was held in Huron County District Court before Judge Ferris.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Alexander Pahany appeared for the prosecution. Attorney Dallas Rooney represented the defendant.
The prosecution placed a plea offer on the record allowing the defendant to plead guilty or no contest to one count of assault or assault and battery, with a second count to be dismissed. The agreement included restitution if applicable, though none had been requested.
The defendant was placed under oath and entered a no contest plea. The court confirmed the plea was made knowingly and voluntarily, and that the defendant understood he was waiving his trial rights. Defense counsel stated the no contest plea was entered due to potential civil liability.
A factual basis was provided, stating that on March 4th, 2026, in Caseville Township, Huron County, the defendant was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim that escalated into physical contact, during which the defendant pushed the victim.
The court accepted the plea and dismissed the second charge. Sentencing proceeded immediately.
The defendant was ordered to serve 6 months of probation under supervision. The defendant must complete a domestic violence awareness program and counseling by July 31st. And the court imposed fines and costs totaling $765. The defendant is prohibited from any contact with the victim.
The court also ordered two days in jail, with the defendant to report on May 2nd, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. for service of the sentence.
The court advised the defendant he may be eligible for early discharge from probation upon successful completion of all conditions.
