In Huron County Circuit Court, Thomas Michael Lemanski appeared for a final pretrial hearing in the case of People of the State of Michigan v. Thomas Michael Lemanski, where trial had been scheduled for May 12th, 2026.
The charge was accosting a minor for immoral purposes, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison, a $4,000 fine, and Tier Two sex offender registration for 25 years.
Prosecuting Attorney Timothy J. Rutkowski offered a plea agreement in which Lemanski would plead no contest. In exchange, no additional charges would be filed, and he would forfeit seized firearms. The prosecution also stated it would not oppose a request for no upfront jail time, though sentencing remains at the court's discretion.
During the hearing, Lemanski, represented by attorney Vince Green, questioned the firearm forfeiture provision. The court stated that federal law prohibits firearm possession for convicted felons. Lemanski noted he had not yet been convicted. Proceedings were recessed to allow consultation with counsel.
When court resumed, the prosecution indicated that if the case proceeded to trial, an additional felony firearm charge would be authorized, carrying a mandatory two-year prison sentence upon conviction. Lemanski requested additional time to consider the plea. The court granted a final recess for consultation and set a deadline for a decision.
Lemanski later entered a no contest plea. The court confirmed he had reviewed the agreement with counsel and understood he was waiving trial and appeal rights. The plea was entered without promises or threats. A Michigan State Police report provided the factual basis.
The court accepted the plea as voluntary and scheduled sentencing for June 29th, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Bond remains set at $10,000, and Lemanski is to report to probation before sentencing.
