Ms. Amy Jo Briolat, in the Huron County Circuit Court, was sentenced today on charges of larceny and illegal use of a financial transaction device.

Judge Prill heard that Ms. Briolat, who has nine prior felonies and four prior misdemeanors, used her dying mother's debit card for purchases and gambling, totaling over $11,000, while on parole.

The defense highlighted Ms. Briolat's mental health issues, physical illness, and personal losses, including the recent deaths of both parents, requesting a reduced sentence.

The prosecution emphasized the victim's rights and the defendant's repeated actions against her mother.

The judge imposed sentences ranging from 24 months to 30 years with the Michigan Corrections Commission.

These sentences will run concurrently with each other but consecutively to her existing parole violation.

Attorney fees were waived, and no credit was given for time served on these new charges.
