Huron County Circuit Court - Justin Michael Whelan, appeared in court today for arraignment on charges of operating while intoxicated, third offense.

Whelan, represented by Attorney Michelle R. Siev via Zoom, entered a guilty plea as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Under the agreement, Whelan admitted guilt to the felony charge, while two misdemeanor counts were dismissed.

Judge Prill outlined the potential penalties, including fines, prison time, probation, mandatory vehicle immobilization, and other sanctions.

Whelan confirmed his understanding of the plea terms and waived his right to trial. The court accepted the plea, finding it voluntary and supported by evidence, including a blood alcohol content of 0.166, twice the legal limit.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 22nd, 2026, at 9 a.m., with a pre-sentence investigation report to be prepared. Whalen remains free on bond.
