Huron County Circuit Court - Daniel Dwight Nast, 61, was sentenced today for operating while intoxicated, third offense.
Nast pleaded guilty on March 2nd. The court imposed three years probation and a 330-day county jail sentence, with 329 days held in abeyance. This jail term is contingent on his successful completion of the Thumb Regional Sobriety Court program.
Probation includes 480 hours of community service, and electronic monitoring.
Nast's blood alcohol content at the time of the offense was 0.137. His record includes prior drinking and driving convictions from 1987, 1990, 1999, and 2002. The defense attorney cited a stressful upbringing and health concerns, requesting the abeyance of incarceration.
Judge Prill noted the sobriety program's challenging nature but its potential for positive outcomes.
