Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11 am at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 5 – 7 pm at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or Friday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. A Rosary/Scripture Service will be offered on Thursday at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to Heartland Hospice, St. Hubert food pantry, Caseville Public School, and Bad Axe Police and Fire Departments. Family of the Deceased

Ruth Ann is survived by her four children: Elizabeth Wilfong, James (Mary Lynn) Wilfong, Laura (Mike) Delpiere, and Pegi (Kevin) Baker; and six stepchildren: Tim (Ara) Moore, Stephen (Mandy) Moore, Kathy (Cliff) Reder, Gregory (Lisa) Moore, Susan (David) Hand, and Ed (Cheryl) Moore. Ruth enjoyed her 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind four siblings: Madelyn O’Connor, Veronica Fisher, John (Sharon) Fisher and Jim (Sally) Fisher; as well as many extended family members and friends. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ed Moore, her parents, her stepfather John Fisher, sisters Rita (Knaus) Sizick and Mary Irene (Fisher) MacLean, and brothers Doug and Phil Fisher.

Biography

Ruth Ann (Knaus) Moore, age 87, of Bad Axe passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Courtney Manor Bad Axe after a brief battle with Small Cell Lung cancer. Special thank you to the staff of Courtney Manor and especially Mark Fisher. She was born on April 20, 1937 in Pinnebog MI, daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Helen M. (McIlhargie) Knaus. Ruth Ann graduated from Elkton High School in May 1955. After high school she moved with girlfriends to Saginaw where they worked and enjoyed the city life. In 1959 she married James Wilfong and moved to North Carolina where Bethie and Jimmie were born. By 1963 they were in California where Laurie was born. Fall of 1964 she was back in Michigan where Pegi was born. The marriage ended in 1971. Ruth Ann worked as a waitress at Bella Vista and Bay Window restaurants before taking a teacher’s aide position with Caseville Public School in 1972. She retired in October 1997. On August 20, 1979 Ruth Ann married Edward J. Moore in Verona, MI. They spent many happy years entertaining family and friends, hosting golf outings, BBQs, and family Christmases. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she served as a Eucharist minister, attended Bible study, and taught catechism for many years.
