Biography

Esther (Hereim) Evans a lifelong resident of Bad Axe went home to join her savior on July 2nd, 2024 at the age of 67. Esther graduated from Bad Axe public schools before attending Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. Using her passion to teach and help all, she returned to Bad Axe where she taught at Bad Axe Public Schools for 33 years and touched so many students lives. While attending Michigan State University Esther found a fervent love for God through the on campus His House Ministry. She carried this love throughout her life as an active participant in her church. From serving as a deaconess, to teaching Sunday School, to being an active VBS leader she served her church families at Elkton Missionary or Bad Axe Free Methodist faithfully while she attended. Next to her love of God, nothing was more important to her than her family. Esther married Walter Evans on July 26th, 1980. They were blessed with their two sons Isaiah and Matthew. She supported her sons as a loud and proud sports mom, team chauffer, and taxi driver to her son’s numerous activities. Rarely missing one of her son’s activities she found the joy in watching them struggle and persevere in their endeavors. Her love extended beyond her own sons, embracing all their friends and so many other children offering a place of love and support for any in need. Her blessings continued as a grandma, enjoying watching her grandkids grow and learn. As a caring volunteer to the community, she loved sharing the Word of God with people everywhere she went. Esther’s big heart, warm hugs, sense of humor, generosity and stubbornness will be missed by all.
