Funeral service for Wayne will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde, Michigan, with Fr. Rick Filary officiating. Burial will follow at St. Edward’s cemetery in Kinde, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 2:00-8:00 PM at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde. Memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund c/o Ken Church. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.macalpinefuneralhome.com

He is survived by two sons; Ken (Brenda) Church of Kinde and Randy (Carmen) Church of Texas; one daughter, Anesa (Greg) Ruthig of Ubly; four grandchildren, Nicole and Dalton O’Connor of Elkton, Jason Church of Chicago, Rande Sue and Nick Mausolf of Filion and Alyssa Church of Texas; great grandchildren Quinn and Gavin O’Connor. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; Reese and Rita Church and his brother Gerald Church.

Biography

Wayne L. Church of Filion, 85 passed away Saturday December 23, 2023 at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak with his family by his side. He was born on June 7, 1938 in Bad Axe to Rita (Case) and Reese Church. Wayne married Viola Ann Lamke on May 20, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parisville. Viola preceded him in death on December 31, 2012. They shared over 51 years together and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2011. In his early years, Wayne worked at Meagher Ford in Kinde, and retired after many years of working for the Huron County Road Commission (1968-2000). Wayne loved woodworking and you could always find him in his shed tinkering on something.
