Funeral Information

Funeral Services for Erv will be Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope, with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation for Irv will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church, beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com

He is survived by his children: Linda (Leo) Smith, Gary (Sharon) Schave, Charles Shcave, Connie (JP) Lermont, Joann Schave, Sharon Joy, Jerry (Joy) Schave, Faye (Rick) Finkel, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, step children: Diane Mills, Lori Garcia, Kevin Gettel, Brian Gettel, 9 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren, his siblings: Oscar (Trawadon) Schave, Virginia Irwin, and many nieces and nephews. Erv was also preceded in death by his siblings:Ruby Tabaczynski, Adolph Schave, Jr., Rosetta Perdue, Inez Johnson, Olga Thrushman, and Louise McAuley.

Biography

Erwin H. Schave, age 99 of Port Hope, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital. He was born on January 14, 1924 in Port Hope, to the late Adolph and Alice (Stermberg) Schave.Erv and Myrtle Townley, were united in marriage on August 22, 1953. She preceded him in death on OCtober 15, 1971. He and Helen Gettel were united in marriage on May 24, 1975, Helen preceded Erv in death on April 12, 2012. Erv farmed his whole life, including up until last year. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsman's Club. He loved to play euchre, and spend time with family and friends.
