Biography

Kenneth L. Baker, 83, of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living and Memory Care in Bad Axe. Ken was born September 28, 1939 in Elkton to the late Robert E. and Pearl (Hollinshead) Baker. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1958. After a short time working in Detroit, he then served in the US Army, stationed in Ft. Hood Texas from 1959 to 1962. He married Marjorie Pobanz in 1964 and settled down in Elkton to become a lifelong dairy and crop farmer. He loved the local farmland and always enjoyed working the crops throughout the planting, growing, and harvesting seasons. After stepping back from full-time farming in 1990, he kept busy maintaining everything around his home and farm. In his final years, he loved taking long car rides touring the local countryside with his beloved dog Bobbie, often ending with a stop at McDonalds in Bad Axe for two small vanilla ice cream cones, one for him, and one for Bobbie.
